What’s changing for BCBAs in 2027

A short summary of the BACB changes that affect your continuing education and supervision, and what to do about them.

Supervision CEUs rise from 3 to 4

For recertification cycles ending in 2027 and later, behavior analysts who supervise RBTs, BCaBAs, or trainees will need 4 supervision CEUs per cycle instead of 3. If you don’t supervise, your total is unchanged.

Diversity content folds into integrated ethics

The separate diversity, equity, and inclusion CE requirement is being integrated into ethics content rather than tracked on its own. The 4-CEU ethics minimum stays.

RBT renewal updates

RBT renewal requirements are also being updated for 2026 onward. If you supervise RBTs, it’s worth checking their renewal timeline alongside your own.

What to do now

  • If you supervise, plan for 4 supervision CEUs in any cycle ending in 2027 or later.
  • Keep meeting the 4-CEU ethics minimum; ABT labels every ethics course clearly.
  • Check your cycle-end date in your BACB account so you know which rules apply to you.
