Questions behavior analysts ask

How many CEUs does a BCBA need?

32 CEUs every two-year cycle, including 4 ethics CEUs and — if you supervise — 3 supervision CEUs (rising to 4 in 2027). Full requirements.

How many hours is 1 CEU?

CEUs track hours of instruction, and courses list their CE hours directly — a three-CEU course is about three hours.

What are the types of CEUs?

Learning, ethics, and supervision. ABT labels every course by category so you know which requirement it fills.

Will these CEUs count toward my recertification?

Yes. ABT is a BACB ACE provider, and your certificate carries our ACE number and your BACB certification number.

What’s on the certificate?

Your name and BACB number, our provider name and ACE number, the course title and instructor, the dates, the delivery method, the total CEUs, and the ethics or supervision allocation where it applies.

What happens if I get audited?

The BACB audits at random and asks for documentation. Your certificates stay in your account, so you can re-download them whenever you’re asked. Keep your records for three years.

Where can I find free CEUs?

On the Free BCBA CEUs page — real, countable CEUs at no cost, with the same certificate.

Can I pause a course and finish later?

Yes. Courses are self-paced and your place is saved, so picking back up takes one click.

What’s changing for BCBAs in 2027?

Supervision CEUs rise from 3 to 4 for supervisors, and diversity content folds into integrated ethics. Read the summary.

Can my clinic buy CEUs for our team?

Yes — seats, a group dashboard, and comped staff accounts. See For clinics & teams.

Who makes the courses?

ABT’s behavior-analyst faculty create and clinically review all course content. Meet the faculty.
